CHRISTOPHER K. RICE As a founding partner of MMR, Chris represents a diverse clientele before the Vermont General Assembly, regulatory agencies and Vermont courts. Chris’ work includes insurance regulation, tax policy, telecommunications, and disruptive technology issues. Chris is widely regarded for his tireless advocacy and candor. Chris prides himself on always being prepared and will go the extra mile for his clients by taking issues out of the State House and to the public when necessary. He has led winning issue campaigns including grass roots and grass tops coalition building to bolster public engagement, a skill that has served his clients well. Chris has helped numerous clients successfully navigate the potentially choppy waters of insurance regulation at the Department of Financial Regulation.

Chris was a partner at Wilson & White, P.C., and the law firm of Smith & Rice, P.C. Immediately prior to joining Wilson & White, he also managed the first successful election campaign of Lieutenant Governor Doug Racine.

Chris received his B.A. from Purdue University and his J.D. and M.S.L. in Environmental Law (magna cum laude) from Vermont Law School.

Chris is active in his community in a number of roles. Chris was the President of the Board of Directors of the Central Vermont Humane Society, and he was a member of the Boards of Directors for the Lake Champlain Retriever Club and Home Share Now. Chris served on the Boards of Directors of the St. Michael’s Elementary School and the Central Vermont Catholic School, and he chaired the Berlin Elementary School Board of Directors. He currently serves on the board of directors for the New Hampshire/Vermont chapter of the American Red Cross.  Chris and his wife Miriam live in Berlin, Vermont with their five active kids. In his free time, Chris can be found enjoying the marshes and waterways of Vermont duck hunting, fishing or boating with his family.
